Music appreciation

Anatomy of an Opera

Starting with a seed in a creative mind, watch it grow over this 10-week series as composers and librettist breathe life into a story; and buds start emerging as a visionary artistic director assembles the physical team of set design, costumes, props, and action; then the musicians – orchestra, chorus, dancers, conductor, and vocal actors – add color, texture, and emotion as we watch it blossom into the magic we call “opera”! Mezzo-soprano Deborah Rosengaus, conductor Jazmine Harnishfeger-Brand, and historian Wells Wadleigh guide our journey as we meet some of the people who make it happen. The class is entirely online. If you need help, we have a staff of Zoom experts who can get you going!
